1. What will my donation support?
Through careful investment of dollars raised, donations to the Hunger Is program will:
  • Improve the benefits derived from existing government food programs;
  • Improve the nutritional values of the meals served to our children in the school programs;
  • Teach children to make healthy food choices; and
  • Help families make the most of their food dollars and educate kids about alternatives to junk foods that are high in fat and sugar.
2. How will donations be distributed?
Grants will be made through a competitive process that values fact-based strategies, experience, competence and a commitment to improved health outcomes for children and their families. The Albertsons Companies Foundation and the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF), will make grants according to the following criteria: Clearly identified objectives and program activities, a detailed operating plan with a budget for use of funds, tracking and reporting capabilities, with a commitment to a high level of transparency, a strong and responsible leadership team in place and legal status in compliance as a nonprofit entity.
3. How can my charity apply for funds?
The grantees of this program will be selected on a competitive basis through an RFP (Request for Proposals) process. Application is by invitation only; no unsolicited proposals, please.
4. Is my donation to Hunger Is tax deductible?
Yes, your donation is tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law. You will be given a receipt for U.S. tax reporting purposes. Donations made to Hunger Is will be processed by the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF), a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization.
5. What will appear on my credit card statement?
When you make a donation by credit card, a charge to “Hunger Is” will appear on your credit card billing statement.
6. I have been charged the wrong amount or wish to revise my donation. What do I do?
If you have any questions regarding your donation, please contact our Donor Services team at info@HungerIs.org.
7. I donated, but did not get a tax receipt. What do I do?
E-mail receipts are sent out within 10 days of donating. If it has been longer than that and you still have not received an e-mail, please contact Donor Services at info@HungerIs.org.
8. I don’t have a credit card. Can I donate by check or money order?
Yes, we accept checks and money orders. Please do not send cash.

9. How do I find out if my employer offers employee matching contributions for Hunger Is?
Many companies encourage employees to support nonprofit programs like Hunger Is by offering to match employee donations. If your company has such a program, you should be able to obtain a matching gift application form from the human resources or personnel department or from your company’s website for you to download. 10. What is the Hunger Is Federal Tax ID number?
Hunger Is, a joint charitable program of The Albertsons Companies Foundation and the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF), is administered by EIF. EIF’s Federal Tax ID number is 95-1644609.
11. Can I donate through my mobile phone?
We are unable to accept donations by mobile phone at this time. To donate online, please visit our donate page.
12. Do you accept donations of goods and services?
Hunger Is does not collect in-kind donations at the moment. However, we encourage you to look at the resources page and contact one of the organizations listed for programs in your area that may be in need of your services or products.
